Chilly

Yep, it is still very cold. Bloody cold indeedy. I did such a stupid thing at work today, I asked for my payslip early, because I wanted to check bills and pay rent etc before I went away and didn't spend all my money. Also I secretly wanted to know in advance if I got the supposed bonus which we might not get (we being me and Sara for not being here before a certain time) but might out of niceness, like Dom and Jennie said we might. But I don't know. I mean it isn't urgent but I'd like ot not be scrimping and saving for my trip, let alone the rest of the month. So I asked HR, and they said well do you expect it to change? And I said no, and she said, "Alex, you're on a salary, it'll be the same as last month then." I'm so stupid. I should have just asked, but it seems a bit rude or crass.

I spoke to my dad today, just for a chat really, but I am glad I did, because he forgot it was my birthday. I asked him with no actual intent of going on about my birthday, but to ask him about Kitty's because its 11 days after mine, he lives in a squat and doesn't really use his bank account and I don't want to send something that won't get delivered/stolen or taken away by the bank because it is his overdraft. So maybe I'll ask if he wants something from America, or even some work clothes, like a boiler suit or something for his painting. It's not like he doesn't LIVE in the one he has now.

I'm getting excited, on my spare moments today I was looking at the Continental website and seeing what films I can watch on the plane and the music I can listen too. Well I can't wait for Shalom, the popular Jewish music station!

Really important things that I need to sort out for my trip:

1. Travel insurance (cheap enough and easy enough to sort nearer time
2. A bag to put my stuff in/luggage thing
3. Money/travellers cheques etc. (Do people still use travellers cheques or am I out of touch?
