Educational!
Well on Monday I had this fancy doctors appointment thing, and I gave a ton of blood and did a glucose test in the age of medical science! I had such an easy pregnancy I donated my body to help mankind and was part of some fancy study. I was supposed to do something else as part of the trial but my blood pressure was below the threshold and my resting heart rate was too low! Well I never! For someone who is pretty unfit and blubbery in my opinion, my resting rate is 49 bmm! My BMI was 90/58 or something. I normally have low blood pressure. I'm used to sometimes getting a bit dizzy and funny. Now the weather is suddenly getting a bit warmer I notice it more, but it'll level out.
So In the end I only did part of it, and I had to do the glucose tolerance test they make you do when you are preggers, and they took my blood before (a lot before) and then every half an hour afterwards. Very interesting. I learnt a lot about myself and medical stuff. They took ages to get a good vein, because I was dehydrated and such from fasting, so they had to put a compress on each arm to try and distend the veins. In the end they put an IV in, and then put a sort of tap so they could come and go to the same vein, but I still needed a tourniquet and had to pump my arm. As the morning went on though, it started to flow quicker and we joked that I should have come in the afternoon haha. The sweet glucose liquid tasted alright... the one in the UK I had to drink when Addie was in mah belly was minging.
So that was really interesting!
